I had ONE lucky SoJ find in my constant grind and traded it up and up and up. I DID play d2 "in its prime" and never once used a hack or cheat. It doesn't take finding everything yourself with hacks and cheating to get to that point in the game. A 20 year old game that TO THIS DAY has people posting "I did 1000 runs of this and here are the results." is enough to prove how silly your approach is, but you are also underestimating exactly what trading means. The idea that people won't play and achieve true end game without cheats is absolutely absurd, and you are out of your mind thinking that is the case just because you were one of them and associated with those cheaters. GL all in D2R, it sounds like the remaining community will have a blast so that's good. it's like holding an M4 then being told all you can use is a water pistol. Just late bloomers and casuals who've never seen an ith bow before. A lot of the hardcore min-max get the most out of it players moved on with life at this point. This entire thread confirmed something I was worried about. Looking for real opinions/discussion here. anyone who just says "cheating is bad stfu", you either didn't play the game in it's prime, or you played single-player.
Curious on what people have been discussing here. Imagining what that'll be like without MapHack feels honestly unrewarding, but maybe I'm just overthinking it. I remember spending all day SPEED farming Mephisto to get maybe 1 shako and 1 SS out of it. Unless you were botting Baal or joining a Chaos run channels, these were pretty much the "Go-To" methods of farming. There're countless examples here, but the most notable would be Andy and Meph runs. Myself and the army of friends who sunk way more of our childhood hours into this game than we're proud of.
I'm all-for the idea of removing botting (yes, I did plenty of that too, along with EVERYONE I knew or talked to ingame) but I'm just wondering if a third-party program that became essentially a core addon has been discussed or not yet? (Mousepad's maphack) This is going to sound troll, but I'm honestly curious.
